Today we are the 1st January 2017 and an additional year has passed. It’s time to say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017 and I wish you a happy new year and your dreams come true. I’d like to thank you again for reading and sharing my work. The year 2016 was a busy year for me. I take the opportunity of this blog post to make a recap of my year 2016.

I’ve started the year 2016 by writing a whitepaper about hyperconverged Microsoft solution with my MVP friend Charbel Nemnom. It was really valuable to work with Charbel because he is really friendly and he is really skilled on Microsoft technologies. We have to update it this year to add information about the final release of Windows Server 2016 J

In February, I’ve applied for a new job to Exakis at Lyon (France). I’m still working for Exakis as a Senior Consultant on Windows Server, System Center and Microsoft Azure. I’ve made some events with Exakis about Azure Site Recovery, Windows Server 2016 and so on.

From April to June I’ve worked a lot on my personal lab to make several presentations. I have invested a lot of money and time to make this lab alive. Thanks to this lab, I can try and write about Storage Spaces Direct, Veeam software, Microsoft Azure and a lot of other technologies.

In July, Packt has contacted me to write an update of the Hyper-V Best Practices book previously written by Benedict Berger. I have changed and added a lot of sections to be updated for Windows Server 2016. This book has been released at the end of October and I’m very proud for having written this book.

In September, I’ve started working for What Matrix to update or create some comparison (Hyper-V and Storage Spaces Direct). Then I have integrated the CMD community.

In October, I was renewed MVP Cloud & Datacenter Management I am really proud about that. Then I was speaker with my Microsoft fellow, Florent Chambon about what’s news in Windows Server 2016. This session was presented at Techdays France. In the same month, I’ve presented with Lenovo France, Mellanox and Microsoft a proof of concept of a three nodes hyperconverged solution with Storage Spaces Direct. Customers were really happy about this event and I work now for some of these customers to implement a S2D solution in their datacenters.

In November, I was at Seattle for the MVP summit and I have met a lot of MVP fellow. It was a great event where we can speak with Microsoft Product group.

In December, I have had my first VMware certification. I hope to get more VMware certification in the next year.

What’s next?

As I have said in previous topic, I’m starting to diversify Tech-Coffee. Since some month, I’m talking about Veeam® Backup & Replication and VMware. I will continue next year to talk about these products. It’s not because I don’t believe in Hyper-V. It is because I really love to work on Datacenter technologies and a little less on the Cloud. So, I give myself every chance to continue working on datacenter technologies.

Firstly, this year, I’ll upgrade my MCSA Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2016. I should pass the exam on 26th January. Then I’ll speak to MS Cloud Summit with French MVP Fellow, Mickael Lopes and Jean-François Berenguer. We’ll speak about:

  • What’s new in Windows Server 2016
  • Storage Spaces Direct and Storage Replica

This year I hope to continue to speak about datacenter technologies and have more hyperconverged cluster. I’ll continue my VMware certification path about vSphere and vSAN. I hope you still enjoy Tech-Coffee and it helps you to troubleshoot or to design your infrastructure.

Stay tuned for further topics J

This year I am rewarded by Microsoft for the MVP Cloud and Datacenter Management a second time in a row. I am deeply honored that Microsoft has renewed my MVP nomination.

A great year has passed since my first MVP award. First Windows Server 2016 has been released with a lot of wonderful features as Storage Spaces Direct, Software-Defined Networking or improvement in Hyper-V and Failover clustering. I have written a whitepaper with my fellow, Charbel Nemnom, about hyperconvergence and Storage Spaces Direct. I really hope for the next years to implement this kind of solution in production. Moreover, a book is coming (we will discuss about that later 🙂) which covers Hyper-V in Windows Server 2016. The last but not the least, I am a speaker at MSExperiences in France this 4 and 5 October. I will present what’s new in Windows Server 2016.

This year I would like to extend technologies discussed in Tech-Coffee topics. Since August, I post also about VMware and vSAN to cover hyperconverged infrastructure from Microsoft and VMware perspective. I hope you will not run away this blog because I talk about non Microsoft technologies J. Otherwise, I will continue to write about Hyper-V, storage, Microsoft Azure and System Center. To finish, the hyperconverged whitepaper will be updated in October or November regarding the final release of Windows Server 2016.

To finish, I would like to thank the people who read my topics and who share them on social networks. It is also thanks to you that I have been rewarded. Thanks to every people who bring me support, especially Céline, my soul mate.

See you soon for people who go to MSExperiences this October and stay tuned on Tech-Coffee for the others 🙂.

Hi everyone,

I wish you a happy new year 2016 with a lot of Hyper-V, System Center and Azure project 🙂 I also want to thank you all for your messages of encouragement, for your visit and for your appreciation. Because It is also thanks to you that I grew professionally.

Looking back on this year 2015, I realize now that it happened a lot of things. First of all I have written my first white paper about Windows Azure Pack. I was surprised to have a lot of good feedbacks and downloads.

Then in February I had the honor to speak at the TechDays France 2015 about how to build a Private Cloud with Windows Azure Pack.

In April, StarWind asked me to write the same white paper about Windows Azure Pack by changing the storage solution from Storage Spaces to Starwind Virtual SAN. I accepted and it was great to work on another software storage solution.

Then in Summer, I move from Toulouse to Lyon (France) for the work. Thanks to this moving, I have had a Technical Architect job related to Hyper-V, networks, storage, datacenter technology, Azure and System Center. At the same time I went to the System Center Universe where I met Hans Vredevoort and Mark Scholman.

On the October, 1st, Microsoft gave me the MVP award for Hyper-V (and now Cloud and Datacenter Management). I was really proud about this.

Now since the beginning of December, I’m writing a second white paper about Hyper Convergence with my friend Charbel Nemnom. This is why I have not written topic in December. I hope that this white paper will be published near the January, 15th and I wish uou’ll love it 🙂

I wish you again a happy new year !

Hi everyone,

Since March 2014, I’ve opened Tech-Coffee with Gilles Monville to share contents about Microsoft Technologies. I’m very passionate about virtualization, software-defined networking and storage, Cloud Computing and security so I write mainly about Hyper-V, SOFS, VMM, Azure and so on.

I decided to publish regularly on these technologies firstly to share my knowledges with you. Then I realized that explaining how work things required to deepen the knowledge already acquired and so increase the skills. To finish, this month I obtained the Microsoft recognition because I’ve been rewarded by the MVP Hyper-V award. I’m very honored and proud to have received this award and thank you Microsoft to have given me this recognition.

I would like to say a big thanks to visitors of this blog for your many browsing, for your messages of support, and for sharing my topics on social networks. Without you, I would not have been rewarded by Microsoft.

To finish, I would like to thank my girlfriend Céline for her patience and to let me the time to play with my home lab.
